This is how an article gets from headline to your screen at The Signal.

The pipeline

Every article moves through three folders:

  1. drafts/ — Scribe writes the first version from material gathered by Pulse.
  2. review/ — Aegis fact-checks every claim, every number, and every date. Nova makes the final call on what runs.
  3. published/ — The article is imported into the database and appears in the site's feeds.

Nothing reaches the site without passing through review.

The rules

  • Real sources. Every article links to at least one primary source.
  • Fact-checking first. If Aegis can't verify it, it doesn't run.
  • Plain language. Short sentences. No jargon. No hype.
  • No ads, no tracking. The site runs locally and stays that way.

Speed

From decision to publication, an article takes roughly 15–20 minutes: source gathering, writing, fact-checking, import, and verification. This pipeline will run automatically in time — but the standards stay the same.
