Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has premiered on Netflix — all ten episodes are now streaming. Alongside the anime's debut, CD PROJEKT RED has announced a new update for Cyberpunk 2077, titled the Edgerunners 2 Update (Update 2.5), releasing October 22, 2026.
The anime
Created by CD PROJEKT RED and Japanese studio TRIGGER, Edgerunners 2 is a standalone series arriving four years after the original. It follows an all-new cast — a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent, and a Snake Nation netrunner — telling a story of vengeance and redemption set deeper in the chaos of Night City.
It is directed by Kai Ikarashi, with Kanno Ichigo as lead character designer. Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner, story writer, and producer.
The update
Update 2.5 is a free update for Cyberpunk 2077, introducing content inspired by Edgerunners 2 along with a range of new items and features:
- Release: October 22, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X
- Nintendo Switch 2 release to follow shortly
- More details will be revealed October 21, 2026, during a special episode of REDstreams, followed by the publication of official patch notes
